NICU Baby Detail Photos
My heart always aches for NICU mamas and babies. That time is so difficult for so many reasons, I cannot even begin to describe it. However, these moments are still precious and deserve to be documented. Here are the NICU baby detail photos that you will want to capture, as well as a few tips on how to take your photos.
Phone vs. Camera
You will always get a better quality image while using a professional camera. However, if you do not already own one and know how to operate it I would suggest you stick with your phone! While using your phone to take NICU baya detail photos you will want to follow these steps.
Make sure your lens is clean! Take a microfiber cloth, the ones you use to clean glasses, and wipe down your lens.
Set your phone’s camera on portrait mode, or the highest resolution.
Avoid zooming in. Instead, just get as close as you can physically.
If possible use natural light near a window.
Use a tripods to achieve less shaky pictures and to get photos with you and baby together.
Toes & Fingers
You will be amazed with how tiny your NICU newborns fingers and toes are! They are so sweet and small, and will grow so quickly. Before you know it your baby will be running laps around you and getting into every drawer with those little hands! You will want to capture these tender details as your baby has a hand on his chest or his fingers wrapped around an object. And feet look darling when your baby is laying on his side or has has his legs crossed.
Profile Photo
The profile of your newborns face will be a photo that you will adore for years to come. You will be able to capture this as your newborn is laying down in her bed, or while laying on your chest. Whether they are sleeping soundly or have wide open eyes, you will be able to capture such personality and tenderness!
Stretches
While in the NICU you won’t be able to wrap up your baby in swaddles and pose them like a traditional newborn session. Instead focus your NICU baby detail photos on your little ones natural movements and tendencies. Try and capture when they stretch out their arms and arch their back. Or when they snuggle into their hands. By taking pictures of your newborn’s actions you are able to capture who they are and how strong they are getting!
Your NICU newborn is precious and should be celebrated through images! Although this time is extremely difficult, it still deserves to be remembered for years to come. Capture your newborn with these NICU baby detail photos and then reach out to me and we will get a more formal newborn session when your infant graduates!
