Sometimes, Two Is Better Than One

We’re talking about TWINS. I have had the honor to work with twins in the studio and it has been an incredible experience. We love to show off their individual personalities while showcasing the bond the two of them already have at such a young age. Working with newborns is one of my favorite things I get to do as a photographer, so working with two at once was a dream come true. When working with newborns it’s important to work efficiently but also with safety as the top priority, with twins it takes a little bit longer, but I think we can agree that the outcome is so worth it.

Posing a newborn in a few different poses takes time, so imagine posing two babies in the same session! We have to get a little creative, and we were able to do that and really focus on the bond these siblings share. It was such an incredibly special and touching moment as a mother and photographer myself to witness. Throughout this blog, I’m going to share my favorite twin newborn poses that worked like a dream during this session.

Swaddle both babies and place together. In this shot, we swaddled both babies in colored swaddles and placed them in a hand-carved wooden heart prop. It was the perfect spot for these twins to be placed, since they’ve arrived they have definitely filled their families hearts! By placing them in swaddles and in this heart prop, we were able to do a couple of different set ups without having to change babies for a couple minutes. This helps keep things moving and saves a little bit of time!

Placing under blanket swaddled with heads together. Such a cozy and tender moment that captures their little features and is a great way to compare features. I love doing side by side poses to spot the differences between twins and compare their sweet little features. Keeping babies swaddled helps them feel secure, and encourages sleep which makes these kinds of shots possible!

Bring siblings to the session! Such a fun way to announce babies being born with all of your cute kids together! Putting babies on either side of their big sister was a great way to show the protective nature of big sister, and also separate them slightly to show their individual little features.

Lastly, during all my twin sessions I love to split them up and take individual shots. After all just because they are twins, doesn’t mean they aren’t their own individual person! We were able to put baby girl in the lace and pinks which was so fun, and baby boy in a more subtle and neutral swaddle for his close ups.

No matter the situation I am so happy to be in the my Idaho Falls studio and work with these amazing families. Let’s book your baby’s close ups!
