When To Book Your Newborn Session
Booking a newborn session is such a tricky thing, especially for the mom-to-be! When should you book your photographer, how old should baby be, what if baby comes early or late, what about coronavirus does that change things? I’m here to ease your mind mama, I’ve done this a few times in the past and have a system worked out for all your questions and worries!
First, don’t worry about booking a session with me too early, I would rather have you on the books and your session saved! This secures your time and those precious pictures! Every year about this time I have tons of clients start booking for late spring/early summer babies, this is perfect because not only are you getting your spot, but we get to know each other and figure out what you’re looking for specifically. Maybe you have family heirlooms you want to include, or maybe you have a blanket your mom crocheted for the baby. Whatever it may be, these early consults can help plan accordingly to ensure we get all those precious moments captured.
Plan on booking your session with me in my Idaho Falls studio when your baby is 4-16 days old. They’re still super new and have that ‘new baby’ look to them. Perfect for a newborn session. I mentioned this in my blog post What to Expect During a Newborn Session, but don’t worry too much about baby being older than what’s suggested, any pictures of your baby will be loved and adored for years to come.
Babies have a mind of their own, and soon, you’ll find that out too (hello 2am wake up call!), so if your baby decides to join the party a little bit late. That’s totally okay. We’ll have buffer space to ensure we get you in the studio and your baby loved on and photographed! Enjoy the last moments of being pregnant (if you can get comfortable) before everything changes forever!
Lastly, the topic of Coronavirus. As a mother and professional safety and client experience are incredibly important to me, we’ve implemented protocols specific to cleanliness and sanitation at the studio. All props are properly sanitized and cleaned in between uses, masks are worn and shoes are taken off at the door. We want to make this experience as smooth as possible for baby and mama!
Whether you just found out your pregnant or are ready to pop, reach out and let’s chat about getting your precious newborn some camera time!
