What Should Mom Wear to her Newborn’s Session?
When preparing for your newborn’s photoshoot, it’s important to prepare yourself too. Not only is this session about taking beautiful pictures of your newest bundle of joy, but you’re going to hop in a few pictures too! I want you to feel confident, and beautiful while you’re loving on your newborn during your session. Something that makes you feel confident and comfortable. Let’s focus on having fun and celebrating your baby, and YOU!
Not only did you bring a baby into this world, you’re both alive, and happy. That’s an accomplishment worth celebrating during these fun pictures. Let’s get right to the tips, what should mom wear to your newborn’s session!
First, find something that you feel comfortable, confident and beautiful in! As a new mom a lot of things are changing, and it can be hard to accept your ‘new’ body. These photos are going to be a special moment in time captured for you to look back on and love, so love your body for what it’s accomplished.
Find a beautiful neutral. This ensures that no matter the swaddle being used, you won’t worry about clashing. Neutrals are always super flattering and a timeless option for any outfit. Stay away from distracting patterns and prints to ensure all the focus and attention is on your precious little babe!
Think about poses, and being able to move. I suggest something that you can move around easily so you won’t feel restricted when posing with your baby, or if you need to take a break and nurse. Poses in my studio aren’t ever too strenuous but it’s important to wear something that allows you to move, and feel comfortable, just like I mentioned above! Are there certain poses or moments you want captured? Let me know! We’ll incorporate them into your session.
Consider who you want to take pictures with your newborn, and try to coordinate outfits within these guidelines as well. If you decide to invite your baby’s father, siblings, or grandparents, communicate outfit expectations that will encourage a cohesive pictures. Try to avoid putting siblings in graphic shirts, and stick to solid shirts, or outfits with a subtle pattern.
No matter what you wear, the pictures are going to be beautiful and something you treasure for the rest of your life. These pictures will bring the memories of late nights rushing back, you’ll remember the baby babbles and tiny toes.
